Description
The PADI Boat Diver course is a specialty certification that teaches you how to dive safely and efficiently from different types of boats—a must-have if you plan on doing most of your dives from a boat (which is super common on dive vacations and in many coastal areas).
Why Take the PADI Boat Diver Course?
- Learn how to handle gear and entry/exit techniques specific to small boats, large dive boats, liveaboards, etc.
- Understand boat terminology, layout, and emergency procedures.
- Practice navigation, safety checks, and buddy procedures in a boat diving context.
- Ideal if you’re not used to diving from boats or want to feel more confident doing it.
What’s Involved:
- 2 open water dives, usually done in one day.
- You’ll practice:
- Backroll or giant stride entries
- Inflatable or ladder exits
- Stowing gear securely
- Managing surface conditions like current or waves
Prerequisites:
- Must be a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent).
- Minimum age:Â 10 years old
How Long Does It Take?
- Just 1 day if you’re already diving off a boat—it can be done during a regular dive trip.
