The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba diving certification and your gateway to exploring the underwater world.

Overview:

It’s the entry-level certification that qualifies you to:

• Dive up to 18 meters/60 feet.
• Dive independently with a buddy (no instructor required).
• Rent scuba gear, book dive trips, and get air fills.

Course Structure:

The course is split into three main parts:

1. Knowledge Development:
   • Covers basic dive theory, equipment, safety, and planning.
   • Includes videos, quizzes, and a final exam.
2. Confined Water Dives:
   • You learn basic scuba skills like mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures.
3. Open Water Dives:
   • You complete four dives over two days to demonstrate the skills you’ve learned.
   • These dives are where you really experience the magic of diving.

Requirements:

• Minimum age: 10 years old (10–14 year olds earn a Junior Open Water Diver cert).
• Must be able to swim 200 meters and tread water for 10 minutes.
• Complete a medical questionnaire (a doctor’s sign-off may be needed for certain conditions).

How Long Does It Take?

• 3 to 4 days on average.
• Or split over multiple weekends.
• eLearning allows you to complete the academic part at your own pace before in-person training.
